Bulk Generate Data Matrix Barcodes
Learn how to generate thousands of microscopic Data Matrix barcodes in bulk for laser engraving on PCBs, silicon wafers, and medical devices.

Microscopic Component Tracking
In the electronics, aerospace, and medical device manufacturing industries, tracking components at the microscopic level is a strict compliance requirement. Every single printed circuit board (PCB), silicon wafer, and surgical instrument must be etched with a permanent, microscopic 2D barcode to ensure end-to-end traceability.
The global standard for this Direct Part Marking (DPM) is the Data Matrix barcode. Because of its highly efficient L-shaped finder pattern, it can be scaled down to 2 or 3 millimeters across without losing scannability—something a standard QR code cannot do.
Feeding the Laser Engraver
If your factory floor is processing 10,000 microchips a day, your laser engraving machine (e.g., a fiber laser) needs the barcode images provided in bulk. You cannot generate these one at a time.
Using a Bulk Barcode Generator, the workflow is automated:
- Copy your day's production batch of serial numbers from your ERP system (like SAP or Oracle).
- Paste the list into the bulk generator.
- Select "Data Matrix" as the output format.
- Download a ZIP file containing every barcode as a high-resolution Vector SVG image.
- Feed the SVG folder directly into your laser engraver's operating software for automated etching.
Why Vector SVGs?
While you can export PNGs, laser etchers prefer vector formats like SVG. A vector file tells the laser the exact mathematical paths to trace, ensuring perfectly crisp, sharp edges even when engraving on a microscopic scale on a silicon wafer.
