How to Convert Text to a Barcode
Converting text into a machine-readable barcode is incredibly simple with our text to barcode generator:

Which Barcode Format Should I Use?
For Alphanumeric Text (Letters + Numbers)
Use Code 128. It is the most robust 1D barcode and supports the full ASCII character set (including upper and lower case letters, numbers, and symbols). It's the industry standard for inventory, asset tags, and serial numbers.

Use a QR Code. 1D barcodes become extremely wide and impossible to scan if you encode too many characters. QR codes are 2-dimensional and can hold thousands of characters in a small, square footprint.

If your "text" is strictly a 12-digit or 13-digit number and you want to stick it on a retail product, use UPC-A (North America) or EAN-13 (Global). Note: These formats will throw an error if you try to encode letters or spaces.
